Get your oral health back
If our experienced dental team decides that you need to have a tooth or multiple teeth extracted, it could be for a number of reasons. For some people, their teeth need to be extracted because they have become severely decayed over time. Other people have an advanced case of gum disease or their tooth has become broken and it unable to be repaired. Whatever the case, if your dentist recommends that you need to have a tooth removed, it is best to have the procedure completed as soon as possible.
The Extraction Process
When it is time to have your tooth removed, our dental team will numb your tooth, gums and the area of your jawbone with a local anesthetic. When the extraction begins, it is likely that you will feel pressure, but not pain. The tooth will then be rocked back and forth gently in order to widen the socket so that the tooth can come out.
After Tooth Extraction
Once your tooth has been extracted, a blood clot must form in order for the healing process to begin. We will give you a gauze pad to bite down on right after the procedure is complete. You may need to replace this gauze several times until the bleeding subsides.
Once the clot has formed, you should not rinse your mouth out, suck on straws, smoke, drink alcohol or brush teeth that are near the extraction spot until 72 hours have passed. You may also want to avoid exercising vigorously for at least 24 hours, as this can increase your overall blood pressure and cause you to bleed more.
If you have any questions or concerns about the procedure before or after, be sure that you ask our dental team. We would be happy to provide you with any information you need.

‘‘The entire team, from the front desk to the assistants and dentist, has been so kind and professional. My fillings were quick and pain-free. I feel very at ease and love that the dentist explains everything to me in detail so I have no surprises. He even took me on a tour of the facility which was refreshing and confirmed how clean and state of the art the facility is.’’
