Our Favorite Chula Vista Restaurants
We’re not hurting for taco options in Chula Vista, but our local favorite has to be Tacos El Gordo on H Street. Perfect for a weekday lunch, Tacos El Gordo is the best place to get no frills, original, authentic tacos. The lines are usually long but move quickly, so don’t let that scare you away! While any of their tacos are delicious, the spicy pork in the taco de adobada is what we recommend.
Sometimes you just need to enjoy a great breakfast. Donny’s Cafe on Bonita Road is the ideal spot to enjoy a bagel sandwich, smoothies, coffee, or their much-lauded Mexican Mocha.
Los Pollos Rotisseries & Cuban Bakery on Third Avenue is one of our favorite spots to indulge in delicious pastries. This little “Mom & Pop Shop” bakes everything fresh each morning, so getting there early is worth it. Whether you try their guava pastry, potato ball or tres leches cake, your craving for pastry will be more than satisfied!
If you decide to try out the sushi at Izakaya Naruto on 3rd Avenue, make sure to get the Viva Chula Vista Roll featuring yellowtail and cilantro. This neighborhood sushi spot is welcoming and comfortable – the perfect place to enjoy a bowl of ramen after work.
No matter where you choose to enjoy a meal in Chula Vista, remember Estrella has emergency dental appointments available, just in case your teeth don’t appreciate your meal as much as your tastebuds do!
“Can’t Miss” Chula Vista Attractions
The EastLake Educational Foundation (EEF) holds this annual event to raise technology funding for our local schools. Since 1995, the foundation has been able to grant more than $1.9 million to local schools! The event always includes delicious food and drink from local restaurants, wineries, breweries, and spirit purveyors. Attendees can enjoy a diverse menu and live music as they support our local schools.
The discovery center is a nonprofit zoo and aquarium nestled on the San Diego Bay. Children and adults alike can delight in meeting sea turtles, bald eagles and manta rays while exploring Southern California’s plants and animals. Visitors can discover native species to our area that you won’t find in the city and experience a wildlife adventure on the 316 acre Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge.
This family and dog-friendly park has lots of open area ideal for picnics and outdoor events. Part of the multi-use bike trail that goes around the bay comes through the park, making it an ideal spot to stop take in the view of Tijuana and Coronado in the distance.
